Jack sparrow ride review

1. Reaction
I thought the use of 3D effects and huge projector screens to add to the overall theme of the ride was actually pretty cool. Coming from the perspective of someone who has only been to the pirates ride in orlando it was really quite interesting to see how the ride evolves based on different countries.  What I thought was most interesting was the rides ability to still communicate the story despite a language barrier.

2. connections

So the major connections that I was able to relate to was primarily the music and visuals. even though I might not speak the language that the ride was using. I still am familiar with the franchise and as such the music was pretty much just a big mix down of the main themes from the movies.  However I  find it interesting to note that this ride is based off of the second and third movies in the franchise whereas the one in orlando I think is based off of the first movie (perhaps predates the movie) overall though I still got the effect of the pirates franchise even through the youtube video because of the iconic music.

3. what changes would you make?

I think this ride has great potential for a VR ride. A lot of the work is done in CG already so I personally feel that it could easily be put in a  VR space. putting the whole ride in VR and only having the track would allow for things to get even crazier and more fantastical. However I do think there would be some lost charm if we did it all in VR.

Planet Map Continued And panaorama

the second part of my planet building process was to create a panorama of the surface of the planet.

The panorama also includes some of the native creatures of this new planet. personally some of the non sentient creatures I was thinking of including where some sort of beach dwelling crustacean like creature. Ideally this new species would similar to a horseshoe crab in makeup but its form is slightly different. Feeding on plant scraps and other organic ocean matter this new species would spend most of its time in the zone between the reefs and the start of the grass.

Planet Map

Here is a map of the planet I was describing in my earlier post. As you may notice, the idea has somewhat evolved. However it does retain some of the Ideas before.

The majority of the plant is still black from volcanic activity which will make large portions of any beach covered in black sand. the terrain would still be porous so as to house any potential life forms in its lava tunnels.

The greener areas are where I am thinking about potential human terraforming and colonization.

Planet building Process

The next project our class has been tasked with is to design a planet that could be habitable

Ideally I've been thinking about an earth like planet in terms of mass and overall material composition since that would be a better start for a new world builder like myself. In terms of overall look I like the idea of a shallow ocean planet with a few continents of mostly mountains. If a remote controlled planetary rover where to land,  they would be confronted with black sand and shallow pools of water.

In terms of the local system there would be about 3 other terrestrial planets and 2 gaseous planets near the outer rim of the system. as for plutoids, there would be about 10 observed plutoids with more still waiting to be discovered.

Moving back to this planet, There would be 3 satellite moons each relatively small with the 3rd being the largest. having a similar effect on this planet as the moon does to earth.

beneath the surface of this planet would be a porous crust with caverns and cave systems stretching for miles underneath the surface

Wizard of Oz

To help with the expansion of my character in the Oz universe, I have created a map of the tiny village that Fillus lives in. As you can see there is a large forest that surrounds the village protecting it from any misfortune that may befall them. The town itself is centered on a fork in the road which leads further into winkle country on the right, and to Quadling country to the left. If an adventure turned around and walked back they would eventually reach the emerald city.

Wizard of OZ character

For our first world building assignment I was tasked with creating an original character that could fit into the world of Oz based off of the lore of that world.

I decided that a race of mushroom people should exist since it would be interesting and fitting for them to live in Oz. Ultimately I settled on a mushroom man by the name of Fillus while mostly stationary Fillus can uproot himself in the event of transportation.

the other component of his assignment was to give our characters a trait structure similar to the characters already found in Oz. Fillus, is a deceitful little creature that attempts to trick passers by into misfortune but often ends up being more helpful than harmful. Fills lives in shaded woody areas. often by roads so that travelers may wander by and run into him. While he may be a bad lier, Fillus, would ultimately be board with his lot and want to roam outside of the forest.

If Fillus was to uproot himself and walk eastward to the edge of the forest. He would be confronted by the sight of vast farmlands, too bright for him to step out into the fields, but enough for him to be interested in what goes on beyond the forest. Maybe the sight of little cottages and hamlets would make him wonder if there where other mushroom men that could step out into the sunlight. Perhaps he would also dream of a day where he could step out into the light and explore the world.

If Fillus was to look south, he would see hilly countryside of the Quadlings. but would be unable to exit the forest. As such he would probably collect information that there where monsters over those hills. Mistaking the screams of travelers being tormented by the Quadlings as terrible monsters.

Looking west, Fillus would be able to see the rounded rooftops of the Munchkin city just beyond the forest. From looking at the Munchkin village, Fillus would be able to tell that they were a happy people from their brightly colored clothing to their brightly painted buildings. However, he would probably be able to trick some of them into misfortune if only they ever left their village.

To the north, Fillus would be blinded by the shimmering glow of the emerald city. It would only have to happen once for him to be repelled from ever walking north
